    For the Future of Running

At Get Fit, our 2026 focus is this: For the Future of Running.

That means continuing to do what we’ve always done—support runners at every stage—and being more intentional about how we do it. We believe running should be accessible, sustainable, and something people can carry with them for as long as possible. Our role is to help make that happen by providing the right tools, education, and opportunities.

What That Looks Like in Practice

Supporting the future of running starts with the present. Get Fit hosts events and educational opportunities that help runners take care of their mental health, physical fitness, and long-term goals. Strong runners aren’t built by accident—they’re built with knowledge, support, and community. Running has a unique power. We’ve seen it change lives, and we believe everyone deserves access to that experience.

It also means investing in the next generation.

Where Race Proceeds Go in 2026

Proceeds from Get Fit races and events will support youth-focused organizations, including:

    • Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center, serving children who have experienced physical or sexual abuse
    • Road to Hope, supporting children with an incarcerated parent
    • 25:35 Water, funding clean water wells for children and communities in Uganda

We may never know if the children impacted by these organizations will grow up to be runners – and that’s okay. To further the future of running, our belief is simple: every child deserves the best odds possible. That starts with safety, support, and opportunity.

Helping now gives them the chance to choose their own path later.

Investing in the Next Generation of Runners

If we’re truly committed to the future of running, we have to start with the future runners.

That’s why youth running has become a cornerstone of our mission. Through our Mighty Milers program, Get Fit proudly partners with local elementary and intermediate school running clubs, currently including Mesa Verde Elementary, Cactus Elementary, and Pinnacle Intermediate. Mighty Milers provides students with motivation and tangible rewards for the miles they run. As kids reach mileage milestones throughout the school year — 25, 50, 75, and 100 miles — they earn prizes like running socks, shirts, backpacks, and ultimately, a brand-new pair of running shoes. For many students, these are items they wouldn’t otherwise have access to.

But what matters most isn’t the prizes, it’s what running becomes for them. These clubs lead to consistent participation, better focus and behavior, and kids learning how to set goals and follow through. Some may continue running in middle school or high school. Others may grow into casual runners like many of us, using running simply as a way to stay healthy. Some won’t. The point is that they get the chance.

    How You Can Help

Supporting the future of running doesn’t just happen behind the scenes, it happens through community. When you shop at Get Fit, sign up for races, or show up to events, you’re already making an impact. But this year, we’re inviting you to participate in an even more personal way. For the first time, youth runners from our Mighty Milers program — including Mesa Verde Run Club and Cactus Elementary Run Club — can be sponsored to run in our August 15th “25:35 Run for Water” race.

Community members can sponsor a youth runner for $20 (cash or check only), which covers the child’s race entry fee. Their coaches work tirelessly to secure funding for races, but these kids have earned the chance to be on that start line. Imagine a race filled with kids running alongside our community — while the proceeds from that same race help children across the world.

That’s the future of running in action.

    Why This Matters

If we want running to have a future, we can’t wait until someone decides they’re a runner. Access comes first. Opportunity comes first. This is the work we’ve always done. We’re just opening the door a little wider and inviting the community to step in with us.

If you’re interested in sponsoring a youth runner or learning more about the 25:35 Run for Water, we’d love to have you involved.

    For the Future of Running.
