Golden Milk Latte - full of anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory
From The Runner’s Kitchen
2 cups milk of choice
1 ½ tsp ground turmeric
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp honey
Smallest pinch of black pepper
In a small saucepan, whisk all ingredients and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce to low and whisk until everything is dissolved. Strain through a fine sieve to get rid of any grainy texture. Use a milk frother to make it extra frothy.
Hot Chocolate Recovery Smoothie - feed your muscles after a cold run
From Rocket Fuel
1 cup water
½ cup milk
1 small banana
1 TBS unsweetened cocoa powder
1 scoop protein powder
2 tsp nut butter
½ tsp vanilla extract or peppermint extract
¼ tsp cinnamon powder
Pinch of cayenne powder
Heat water in a kettle until warm but not boiling. Put everything in the blender and blend until smooth.
Apple Ginger Cider - anti-inflammatory and digestion enhancing
From Run Fast Eat Slow
2 cups apple juice
1 cup water
2 cinnamon sticks
1” knob fresh ginger, grated or sliced thin
? teaspoon sea salt
Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Simmer, covered, for 15 minutes.
Carefully pour the hot cider through a mesh sieve into 2 mugs.
