    3 Chaparrals 3/6 Hour Trail Run
    3 Chaparrals 3/6 Hour Trail Run 6 Hour, 6 Hour 3 person Relay, 3 Hour Course Info Be a part of the 2nd annual 3 Chaparrals 3/6 Hour Endurance Trail Run! This is a fixed time event that will take place on a 4 mile loop course in Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Participants will record the greatest distance possible during their chosen duration. Only fully complete course loops will count towards your distance. This is a trail run and portions of the course can be quite technical. The start will be at the Mack Dick Pavilion and the course will be the 4 mile Kiowa/Comanche Loop. . Relay Information This 6-hour trail relay is a team event where teams of 2-3 runners tackle a 4-mile loop to maximize total laps. The team with the highest number of laps, followed by the fastest total time, wins. Exchanges must happen in the designated exchange zone, with a required timing chip pass. Each member must complete at least one loop, but teams may otherwise rotate runners at their own discretion. No new laps may begin after 5 hours and 35 minutes. *The team with the most loops completed within the 6-hour limit wins. If loops are tied, the team with the fastest total time wins. *Last Loop Cutoff: Team relay runners cannot begin a new loop after 12:30 pm. *Final Loop Completion: Loops started before the the cut-off time must be finished for them to count. *Relay Exchange Zone: You'll be allowed to set up a base camp/tent area within the exachange zone to support your food, hydration, rest, and other aid station needs. *Each relay participant will receive a bib at PPU. *The team member wearing the timing chip is the only team member permitted on course.   Awards 6-Hour and 3-Hour Individual: Overall - Top Male and Female Masters (over 50) - Top Male and Female 6-Hour Relay: Top All Male, All Female, and Mixed team. Age-Groups 3-Hr and 6-Hr Individual:  TBD based on number of entrants. Registration closes: Tue, Mar 24 @ 11:59PM CT Packet Pick-Up Thursday, March 26th  5:00 pm - 7:00 pm  Location TBD (in conjuction with Amarillo Pub Runners) Friday, March 27th 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm Location - Get Fit NEW locaton (7669 Hillside Rd, Suite 500) Race Day Saturday, March 28th 6:00 am  Location - Start / Finish area in the parking lot of Mack Dick Pavillion Aid Station Info There will be one aid station at the S/F and you may set up your own canopies or tents in the designated drop bag area ONLY. The neutral aid station will be stocked with the usual water, Hyperlyte Liquid Performance drink mix, coke, ginger ale, pickle juice, gels, and an assortment of sweet and salty snacks. This is a cupless race so please bring your own bottle, bladder, or cup. Cutoffs Only fully completed laps count toward your race distance and the final lap must be completed BEFORE the race finish per the above schedule, based on the event in which you are registered. Therefore, it is at your discretion if you begin a 4 mile loop that you know you may not be able to complete before your race ends. There will be an absolute cutoff 25 minutes prior to the end of each race (9:35 am for the 3 hour, 12:35 pm for the 6 hour), after which no runner will be allowed to begin another loop.     Palo Duro Trail Run  October 17, 2026 |  Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Texas Celebrate 41 years of trail tradition at one of Texas’ most iconic races! Founded by Red Spicer in 1985 as a road race, the Palo Duro Trail Run has evolved into a stunning and challenging off-road experience. Runners from across the country descend into the second-largest canyon in the United States to take on the 25K, 50K, or 50 Mile distances—each offering an unforgettable journey through dramatic red rock formations, sandy washes, and technical climbs. Held in mid-October, runners can expect extreme and unpredictable canyon weather—from freezing starts to triple-digit highs—so come prepared for anything. The course consists of looped singletrack trails with wide-open views, rolling terrain, steep technical sections, and plenty of support from your crew and fellow runners throughout the day. The 2026 race will be considered a EAST year.    Race Day Schedule – Saturday, October 17 6:00 AM – Packet Pickup (Mack Dick Pavilion parking lot) 6:30 AM – 50 Mile Start 7:00 AM – 50K Start 7:20 AM – 25K Start Packet Pickup Times: Thursday, October 15 | 3:00-6:00 PM at Get Fit, Amarillo Friday, October 16 | 3:00-6:00 PM at Sad Monkey Mercantile Race Morning (Oct 17) | 6:00 AM at Mack Dick Pavilion  Awards: All 50K and 50M finishers recieve a unique Palo Duro belt buckle. All 25K finishers receive a unique Palo Duro hat. Overall and age groups awards are TBD. Pacers: Allowed for the 50 Mile race on Lap 3 only. Pacers must sign a waiver and pick up a pacer bib at packet pickup.  Cutoffs: 50M - 2:30 pm. Runners will NOT be allowed to continue the race from the start/finish line after 2:30pm 50K - 1:00 pm.
